Life inside the van is different from a traditional dental office. There is no crowded waiting room, no stream of unfamiliar people moving around and much less of the background noise associated with a busy clinic.

You receive care from one independent registered dental hygienist in a comfortable, private space. This allows us to take our time, discuss your concerns and create an appointment based on what helps you feel safe and relaxed.

You remain in control

Your appointment never needs to feel rushed. We can explain each step before beginning, agree on a signal for when you would like us to stop and take breaks whenever needed.

You are welcome to ask questions, and nothing is completed without your knowledge and consent. If you are only comfortable completing part of your care during the first appointment, we can discuss dividing your treatment into shorter visits.

Options for sounds and sensitivity

If you dislike the sound or sensation of an ultrasonic scaler, hand scaling is always available. Warm water can be used during AIRFLOW polishing, and your treatment can be adjusted for sensitive teeth and gums.

Desensitizing treatments, traditional local anesthetic and needle-free Cetacaine may also be available when appropriate. We will discuss your sensitivity, health history and previous dental experiences before deciding which comfort options may be right for you.

Relax with Netflix

You can choose something to watch on Netflix during your appointment. Having a familiar show or movie playing can provide a helpful distraction, reduce your focus on the treatment and make the appointment feel more relaxed.

Gentle dental care for children

The mobile clinic can also provide a calmer environment for children, including first dental visits. Equipment can be introduced gradually, everything is explained using child-friendly language and we move at a pace that feels comfortable.

Without a busy waiting room or several unfamiliar people moving around, children often have an easier time becoming comfortable with their surroundings. They can ask questions, take breaks and watch a favourite show during their appointment.

Weekend and evening dental appointments

Shine Dental Hygiene offers weekend appointments on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as evening appointments Thursdays through Sundays. The mobile dental hygiene clinic can come directly to your home or workplace in Grande Prairie and surrounding communities.

Most dental insurance plans are accepted, including CDCP, the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
