Dental Insurance, Direct Billing and CDCP in Grande Prairie
Dental insurance and direct billing for mobile dental hygiene in Grande Prairie.
Shine Dental Hygiene accepts most dental insurance plans, including the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) and the Non-Insured Health Benefits program (NIHB).
Whenever supported by your plan, claims can be submitted directly on your behalf.
Can a mobile dental hygienist bill insurance?
Yes. Shine Dental Hygiene is operated by an independent registered dental hygienist, and eligible dental hygiene services can be submitted to most insurance plans.
This may include dental exams, X-rays, scaling, polishing, fluoride and other covered preventive services. Your exact coverage depends on your individual plan.
What information should I provide?
To submit a claim, we generally need:
The name of your insurance provider
Your policy or plan number
Your member, certificate or identification number
The name and birthdate of the primary plan holder
Information about any secondary insurance plan
Providing this information before your appointment gives us time to confirm that your plan can receive electronic claims.
Direct billing
When direct billing is available, the claim is submitted to your insurance provider after treatment.
Some plans pay the dental provider directly, while others reimburse the patient. Insurance companies may also require the patient to pay a deductible, co-payment or remaining balance.
Direct billing does not guarantee that every service will be covered. Patients are responsible for any amount not paid by their plan.
Canadian Dental Care Plan
Shine Dental Hygiene accepts CDCP, the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
CDCP may provide coverage for eligible services such as exams, X-rays, scaling, polishing and fluoride. The services covered, frequency limits and any applicable co-payment depend on the patient’s individual CDCP coverage.
CDCP fees and coverage are determined by the federal program and may differ from the Alberta Dental Fee Guide. Any patient portion can be discussed whenever that information is available.
NIHB
Shine Dental Hygiene also accepts NIHB, the Non-Insured Health Benefits program, for eligible First Nations and Inuit clients.
Coverage and authorization requirements depend on the service being provided and the client’s eligibility under the program.
Private and employer dental insurance
Most private and employer-sponsored dental plans are accepted. Coverage varies considerably between plans, even when two people use the same insurance company.
Your plan may include limits on:
How often an exam can be completed
How frequently X-rays are covered
The number of scaling units covered each year
Polishing and fluoride frequency
Annual maximums
Deductibles and co-payments
Predeterminations and cost estimates
If you are concerned about coverage, a predetermination or estimate may be submitted before treatment when supported by your insurance provider.
A predetermination is not a guarantee of payment, but it can give you a better idea of what your plan may cover and whether you will have an out-of-pocket portion.
Transparent pricing
Shine Dental Hygiene’s fees are based on the current 2026 Alberta Dental Fee Guide and are subject to change when the fee schedule is updated.
Recommended services and estimated costs can be discussed before treatment. You are always welcome to ask questions about pricing or insurance before your appointment.
